We hope everyone is already thinking about what science fair project they would like to do this year. Because science fair is one of our favorite times of year, it is our pleasure to bring more and more ideas for science fair projects. This time around we will focus on the wondrous world of plants. My very first science fair project was to determine whether or not playing music to plants helped them to grow? And as a follow up I asked; Does the type of music (rap, country, classical, jazz, show tunes) have a different outcome? I had fun exploring plants and music, and hope some of you may find a project in here that sparks your interest into asking questions and seeking scientific answers.
Science Fair Project Ideas With Plants
1. Does the color of light used on plants affect how well they grow? What about a black light? What about no light?
2. What plant fertilizer works best? What are the differences between the fertilizers tested? Try pairing an organic or all natural fertilizer with a name brand non-organic fertilizer.
3. Will other plants grow upside down besides those tomatoes I have seen on TV? Try other vegetables, herbs, or even flowers.
4. Can a plant grow in the refrigerator? Try using several different kinds of plants, or keeping one in the fridge and one at room temperature. Be sure not to take up too much room so your parents can still store food.
5. Do plants grow bigger crammed next to one another or when they are growing alone? Try this experiment at the same time with two different types of plants and see if the results are the same or different.
Have fun and be gentle. Plants are sensitive things. As always, let us know what science fair project you chose and how well your plants thrived or did not thrive. Post comments, photos, and other ideas below.

Thanks for the compliment.
